COMMUNICATIONS
Email Security
Using email to transfer sensitive information is not secure. When electronic documents leave the HIT mail system, they are not encrypted and we no longer control who has access to them. If you need to communicate securely with a patient, you should instead use the Kryptiq Patient Portal – Please contact our EMR Support group if you would like to know more about this product.

Videoconferencing / Telehealth
Video conference technologies have skyrocketed in the last couple years. With high speed Internet and a web cam, just about anyone can participate. This form of communication is no exception to data security concerns. Conferences that include interactions with patients require encryption to be enabled throughout the duration of the call and are a requirement of HIPAA compliance.
If you have any questions regarding video conferencing please call our helpdesk at 517-355-6531.
